2022-2023 YOUTH RECOGNITION AWARDS
Holly Area Youth Assistance is planning to acknowledge and celebrate young people that
made exemplary contributions in our community from January through December 2022.
Categories for nomination are as follows:
Exceptional service to others Superior service and extensive volunteerism.
They are displaying a genuine concern for others based on the youth’s developmental age.
Example: Painted houses and performed maintenance work for women whose families were victims of domestic abuse, helped the homeless, and repaired damages after storms. Volunteers frequently to help others.
Achievement by an individual who has overcome personal challenges
and/or set an example for others Youth’s sincere attempt to turn around one’s life.
Significant changes from negative to positive behavior; displaying outstanding achievements in personal growth for a person of the youth’s developmental age; or positively overcoming emotional difficulties.
Example: Despite hardships with the disease, has remained a caring child with a sense of humor and an understanding of other people’s character. Is a role model for all of us in overcoming our own personal challenges.
Heroism/Outstanding humanitarian act Acts of self-sacrifice.
Demonstrates unusual courage and/or an act reflecting great concern for the welfare of another.
Displaying considerable social awareness for a person of the youth’s developmental age.
Example: Grandmother suffered a stroke and was transferred to a nursing home, and she got the choral group to begin singing to her at the facility. This act turned into weekly musical routines and happiness at the care facility.
Exceptional service by an individual within a club or organization
Superior service and extensive volunteerism well beyond the norms of the time, energies, and tasks of other group members of the youth’s developmental age. Giving oneself without consideration for self-gain.
Example: Donated over 400 hours to Beaumont Hospital. Served as a liaison between families, physicians, and nurses.
Eligibility and Nomination Instructions
- The youth must be of school age and reside within the Holly Area School district.
- Nomination forms must be clearly typed or printed; only one youth per entry form.

- With the required forms, please provide a letter of recommendation for your nominee.
- Completed forms and recommendations must be returned by April 3rd, 2023, to HAYA.
We depend on your participation to recognize young people throughout the Holly community who contribute in so many ways.
